Maruti Ertiga and Baleno Now Get 6 Airbags Standard, Check New Prices Here

Maruti Suzuki India has taken another step forward in enhancing passenger safety. The company has officially announced that all variants of the popular Ertiga MPV and Baleno hatchback now come equipped with six airbags as standard.

This update comes in anticipation of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) regulation that will require all new passenger vehicles to have six airbags by October 2025.

Price Revisions After the Upgrade

Alongside these safety improvements, Maruti Suzuki has slightly adjusted the prices of both models.

  • Baleno: Prices have gone up by around 0.5%.
  • Ertiga: Prices have increased by about 1.4%.

These revised prices became effective from July 16, 2025.

Updated Baleno Prices

  • Starting price: ₹6.74 lakh (Sigma variant)
  • Top-end price: ₹9.96 lakh (Alpha AT variant)

Every other trim—Delta, Zeta, Alpha, including AT and CNG versions—has also seen a hike of ₹3,000 to ₹4,500.

Updated Ertiga Prices

  • Starting price: ₹9.09 lakh (LXi (O) variant)
  • Top-end price: ₹13.44 lakh (ZXi AT variant)

The Ertiga’s petrol, CNG, and automatic trims have seen price increases ranging between ₹13,000 and ₹19,000, depending on the variant.

Enhanced Safety Features

Apart from six airbags, both models now include the following features as standard across all variants:

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)
  • ISOFIX child seat mounts

These additions strengthen overall occupant protection and help meet upcoming regulatory requirements.

Part of a Larger Safety Push in India

Maruti Suzuki’s move mirrors similar steps by other manufacturers, such as Toyota, which recently updated the Glanza to include six airbags. Within Maruti’s own lineup, vehicles like the Alto K10, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, WagonR, Grand Vitara, and Invicto already offer enhanced safety in certain trims.

While the price hike is modest, the update marks a significant milestone in India’s transition toward stricter safety norms. Maruti Suzuki continues to balance affordable pricing with better safety standards, ensuring customers get improved protection without losing value.
